I love watching animal programmes from wildlife to the more homely kinds. I don’t normally buy magazines with TV listings, but if I did, you would see lots of dog-ears (ha!) and highlighting in red circles on all the programmes I don’t want to miss. Alongside the cookery programmes (obvs), certain home improvements or those featuring Kirstie and Phil, the next ones are definitely dog programmes. “For the love of dogs”, “The Dog House”, “The Dog Rescuers”, etc. I love watching them all.
I can’t resist saying hellos to dogs whenever I come across them, whether in parks, or on public transport (remember those?). I even did not let the opportunity go when I came across some stray dogs while on holiday. It was only moments later a local warned me to be careful as the very dogs I tried to get their attention for, had bitten before! That was scary as I was in no place near a hospital there.
Dogs really are man’s (and woman’s) best friends. They are intelligent, loving, loyal, funny, mischievous, and many more. Dogs are such fantastic animals and if anyone is blessed to be their carers, we have a massive responsibility for them throughout their lifetime.
I’m going to cut to the chase here, dog theft is on the news, on our social media channels, papers and magazines and “missing” posters. With each bulletin, and increasingly upsetting details, many lives are affected. When I see a photo of dog stolen or mistreated, I feel sad and angry and hope very soon, they are found and are reunited with their families.
Thankfully many charities and police forces are educating the public and promoting dog safety. Unfortunately we live in a world where bad things happen to everyone and also to animals.
